Gerard Paul Dewan "Jerry" Born Sat, April 16 1966. Youngest out of six. The fifth boy in his family. Jerry grew up in Roslindale section of Boston. Went to school at Sacred Heart Elementary and Don Bosco Technical High School. Jerry played baseball, football and hockey. Jerry was popular, energentic guy loved being involved in sports. Jerry was not a New Yorker he was a Bostonian the grandson, son and brother of Firefighters who in turn were the sons of Firefighters.
Gerard Dewan Aka "Jerry" he loved sports and his friends. he was a great person.
Jerry was a Carpenter, a Bartender and Marathon runner. But his passion for the Fire Department is what made him thrive. Jerry kept meticulous notes of the daily activities at work the riding list the tool checks, the responses, what they did and encountered.
He lived for the job and was relentless when it came to training.
In June 01 jerry was asked by service hero Capt. Patrick "Paddy" Brown to work for him at Ladder 3 a legend Capt. they shared similar views, goals and passions for their jobs.
when Jerry started Ladder 3 he wasn't on the Capt. shift. On Sept. 11 Jerry and Capt. Brown were officaly on the same shift.
Sept 11 local NY news channel filming a firehouse cooking segment at Ladder 3 live at 8:30 a.m. They went to a commercial in a few mins. the world changed as Engine 7 Ladder 1 and 1st Battalion witnessed the first plane hit north tower.
